About Us

You will find us near the Southern End of the Shenandoah Valley, tucked between the Blue Ridge and the Allegheny Mountains. We are just 10 miles south of Historic Lexington, Virginia. Natural Bridge, one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World and a Virginia State Park,  is just 3 miles away. The breathtaking Blue Ridge Parkway and the George Washington National Forest is a 15 mile drive. Located just off U.S. Route 11 (Lee Highway), one mile South from Interstate 81 (exit 180), we are a fast and easy trip from all locations.

Upon your arrival you will return in time to an era of Grand Lodging in Antebellum Excellence and Southern Hospitality at its finest.

Experience the distinctive character of our three large guestrooms, the Keydet, the General and the Bright Bovine. Each with antique queen size beds, tastefully decorated to coincide with their name and all with period furnishings and accessories.

Family heirlooms and Herring Hall history are sprinkled all over the house, intending to catch your interest. Sit in one of our two parlors or rock the evening away on the sunny front porch. Nearly each room has stained glass lamps, which serve as a reminder of the Innkeepers love for bright colors. She has tastefully infused her love of cows and color into each room.

Satellite television is available in the parlor and satellite internet is available throughout the house. The entire home is temperature controlled for guest comfort.  A full southern style breakfast including our signature mimosa, along with snacks and signature welcome adult beverage may be included in your stay. Please select the appropriate option when booking your reservation.

We are members of the Lexington/Rockbridge Chamber of Commerce, Association of Lodging Professionals (ALP), the Bed and Breakfast Association of Virginia (BBAV), Mountain Valley Preservation Alliance, Member Bed & Breakfasts of the Historic Shenandoah Valley (BBHSV), Friends of Natural Bridge State Park, Historic Lexington Foundation and the Rockbridge Historical Society.

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary by hosting the local Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours. A great time was had by all. See some of the photos here.
